What Is Viral Marketing?
Viral marketing is one of the best tools in your internet marketing arsenal. I personally wouldn’t ever be without viral marketing because it can bring you tons of free traffic, and it’s even possible to earn money from it directly.
But what actually is viral marketing?
In short, the idea is that you produce something (the most common way is a free report or eBook), and then you distribute it to as many people as you can. Inside your report will be links to your website, and everyone that reads your report will see them.
Once you’ve got your free report out to a few people, it will get passed-on, sold, and will generally appear all around the internet.
Let’s say three hundred people download your free report. Ten of them decide to offer it to their mailing list, and another ten decide to add it to their website. From this, another three hundred people download your report. From that, ten people decide to put it on their website… and so on.
See what I mean? This is where the name viral marketing comes from. Pretty quickly your report will be all over the internet, being offered in exchange for people opting-in to newsletters, given away as a free bonus, etc.
The great thing about viral marketing is that once your report has been out for a while it will start to take on a life of its own.
Of course viral marketing doesn’t have to involve reports or eBooks. The key thing is that you offer something which is of value and interest to your target market. Viral videos are quite big at the moment for example.
I LOVE viral marketing. It’s a simple idea, but that doesn’t make it any less effective. If you don’t currently use viral marketing in your own business then you really are missing out on a lot of free traffic and exposure.
